Bruiser
Project Type
App Design, Illustration
When it comes to making video games, the most helpful advice from professional developers is to start small and expect the process to take twice as long as originally planned. While Bruiser was a "small" project, every choice from the sound design to typeface selection was thoughtfully crafted, and every glitch or bug in the coding was meticulously squashed to elevate the player experience.
Bruiser takes gameplay inspiration from the classic handheld video game, Mattel's Electronic Football, and visual inspiration from arcade classics like Galaga and Pac-Man. The pixelated graphics, easy-to-learn yet hard-to-master gameplay, and retro title track all make this mobile app feel like it belongs in an arcade cabinet.
