The Devils of Loudon

Some stories stay with you because of the unforgettable characters you fall in love with or the ability of the writer to transport readers to places they create on the page. The Devils of Loudon doesn’t have any particularly likable characters; rather, it’s the sheer lunacy of the true events in this book that make it a memorable read, and for that reason this project was brought to life.

 

In an online course from the venerable designer Ben Marriott, the final project of the class was to make a 15-30 second explainer video about a topic you love. Creating a bite-sized synopsis of this unforgettable story was the perfect choice for this project. With the events of this book taking place nearly 400 years ago, all accounts of what actually happened would be found only in the diaries of those who witnessed them. For this reason, a collage style was used for the animation that set the table for the rest of the project.
